aka.ms link phone – Link Your Phone to Your PC

It might be challenging to keep track of all of your devices and to synchronize all of them so that they are easily accessible. However, if you have both an Android phone and a Windows computer, Microsoft has made synchronizing easier than ever with its aka.ms link phone feature.

Configuring the Link To Windows Application on an Android Device

If you have the Link To Windows application on your phone, you may use it to connect your Android device to a computer running Windows. Here are the basic steps you need to do to install the Link To Windows app on your Android device:

  • Launch the Link to Windows application.
  • Select Link Your Computer and Phone.
  • Choose “Continue.”
  • At this time, you will be presented with a multitude of options:
    • Scan the QR code using your phone’s camera on your Windows PC.
    • To see the QR code, go to www.aka.ms/yourpc or aka.ms link phone.
    • Select Sign-in with Microsoft by pressing the Back button.
  • After granting the required settings and permissions, select Done.

Resolving Issues With the Phone Link App

  • Check Phone Link app updates under Settings > About. Watch for updates. Install updates to keep the content updated.
  • The Android Link to Windows app may also require upgrades. Go to Settings > Check updates or Details > “More” Windows link.
  • Switch on your Windows PC and Android mobile, connect to the Internet, and disable Battery saving to sync your stuff.

Can I Synch Using Mobile Data Rather Than Wi-Fi

Yes, mobile data can be used to synchronize with a computer via aka.ms link phone. If, on the other hand, you are concerned about how this will impact your data expense, we advise you to maintain a Wi-Fi connection.

  •     Launch the Link to Windows application.
  •     Navigate to Settings.
  •     Choose Synchronize with mobile data.
  •     Enable this option.

Having Trouble Connecting Android and PC with aka.ms link phone

We suggest briefly checking the following before changing settings:

  •     Make sure you’re using the same Microsoft account for Phone Link and the Android companion app.
  •     Disable battery saver on your PC or Android device to maintain connection.
  •     Your Wi-Fi is operational. Can you open your browser to your favorite site?

Some Android smartphones’ Battery Optimization options may disrupt connections. On Android, disable it in the Link to Windows app.

Open Android Settings > Apps & notifications > App info. Windows > Advanced > Battery > Manage Battery Usage > Optimize Battery. Select Don’t optimize under Link to Windows.

Certain Android devices may follow these steps:

Android Settings > Apps > Link to Windows > Battery > Optimize battery. Select All from the drop-down, scroll to Link to Windows, and disable.
